FORT BENNING, Ga. — 2021 Olympian and U.S. Army Spc. Sagen Maddalena, a marksmanship instructor/competitive shooter with the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit, claimed two Gold Medals and the ‘Best Athlete of the Year’ title at the 2021 International Shooting Sports Federation’s President’s Cup in Wroclaw, Poland.

USAMU Soldiers aim for Olympic Gold in Tokyo

FORT BENNING, Ga. — U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit Soldiers, Spc. Alison Weisz, Sgt. Phillip Jungman, 1st Lt. Amber English, Spc. Sagen Maddalena, and Sgt. Patrick Sunderman join the throngs of athletes at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan. Also capturing a ticket to Tokyo is USAMU’s Staff Sgt. Kevin Nguyen who will represent Soldiers in the Paralympic Games at the end of July.

Brian Burrows and U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Derek Haldeman represented Team USA in Men’s Trap at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru. Not only did these two athletes claim the Gold and Silver Medals, they claimed the last two possible Olympic quotas in Men’s Trap for Team USA, something that has not happened since 2008! Soldiers help claim Pan American Game medals and break 11-year Trap quota search

FORT BENNING, Ga. — If you could listen well enough, you might have heard the collective sigh of relief exhaled nationwide earlier today following one particular result at the 2019 Pan American Games. It came at the exact moment when Brazil’s Roberto Schmits was eliminated from the Men’s Trap competition in third place.
