The Albany Recruiting Battalion, with headquarters located on the Watervliet Arsenal, New York, encompasses 38,760 stateside square miles. It includes the 27 northeastern counties of New York, the five westernmost counties in Massachusetts, the states of Vermont and Connecticut, and responsibility for the Army's recruiting mission in Europe, northern Africa, and the Middle East.

Established in December, 1972, Albany Battalion's mission is to provide active Army and Army Reserve enlistees for our nation's defense.

The battalion operates 51 recruiting stations in the continental United States and four recruiting stations in Germany. Our recruiting force averages approximately 286 active Army and Army Reserve soldiers and 24 civilian employees. We maintain a vehicle fleet of approximately 262 vehicles.

We support 104 Army Reserve units in addition to our active Army mission. Special missions include: Special Forces, Warrant Officer Flight and Technical Programs and referrals for the Reserve Officer Training Corps and Officer Candidate School.

We are supported by two Military Entrance Processing Stations, located in Albany, New York and Springfield, Massachusetts, as well as various military units in Europe.
