FORT KNOX, Ky. –
Staff Sgt. Tevinn Speller, a native of Odenton, Maryland, serves as a Recruiter at the Oceanside Recruiting Station in Oceanside, California.
Speller joined the Army as a Combat Engineer. His father was an Engineer Officer in the United States Marine Corps, so he wanted to follow in his footsteps.
“I have a long-standing tradition of military service in my family,” Speller said. The Army gave me a chance to directly serve my country and represent something bigger than myself.”
Army gave Speller endless career opportunities compared to any other branch which to him was a no brainer.
“Being a Recruiting NCO, you have the opportunity to directly influence the future of the Army by counseling and mentoring individuals on career opportunities that correlate with their future goals and interests,” Speller said.
Speller would like to complete his associate's degree in interdisciplinary studies as well as completing Airborne school and becoming an officer just like his father before retiring.
When not recruiting Speller enjoys hiking, working out, grilling and spending time with the family.
“I attribute my success for who I am today to my lord and savior Jesus Christ, my family and the Army,” said Speller.
