Meet Your Top 13 Recruiter – Staff. Sgt. Wilfredo Vivas-Torres

By Lauren Reho USAREC Public Affairs

Staff Sgt. Wilfredo Vivas-Torres, a native of Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, has transitioned to serving as a Recruiter with the Carolina Recruiting Station after receiving the recognition of Top 13 recruiter at the Cayey Recruiting Station in Cayey, Puerto Rico.

According to Vivas, he’s driven by his personal passion and love for his work in his role with U.S. Army Recruiting Command.

“I serve in the Army because I love what I do,” Vivas said. “The Army has given so much to my family. The best way I feel I can pay it back is to help provide the strength in USAREC.”

Since joining USAREC, Vivas has been consistently ranked in the Top 100 Recruiters Army-wide for numerous quarters. Most recently, he was recognized in Washington by the Secretary of the Army as a Top 13 Recruiter in 2024.

Prior to becoming a Recruiter, Vivas served as an information technology specialist. He said he picked this occupational specialty due to his love for computers and technology and saw the occupation as both exciting and challenging.

“I joined the Army looking for a better opportunity for my family and myself and eventually fell in love with the cultures and traditions,” Vivas said. “It has been the best decision of my life.”

With the opportunities provided by being a Recruiter, Vivas said he values the chance to stay close to his family, actively participate in his daughter’s life, and the opportunity to contribute to the community by assisting young adults in achieving their dreams.

Vivas said his own dream is to one day be a sergeant major in USAREC. When away from work, he enjoys spending time with his family, playing video games and running.

For Vivas, the success he’s found in the Army isn’t his alone to share.

“I owe my success to all the leaders in my life, including the team at my office and my chain of command,” Vivas said, “but even more so to my beautiful wife and daughter.”
