Meet Your 420T - Chief Warrant Officer 3 Troy Capehart

By Sergeant 1st Class Eric Johnson USAREC Public Affairs

The Army’s recruiting transformation is underway as the first group of warrant officers recently graduated the talent acquisition technician training course.

Chief Warrant Officer 3 Troy Capehart, a native of Grand Prairie, Texas currently serves as a talent acquisition technician at 1st Recruiting Brigade, Fort George G. Meade, Maryland.

Capehart is one of 25 warrant officers who, just recently, completed two weeks of fundamental human resources training at the Adjutant General School at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, and eight weeks of data analytics, public relations, marketing, and recruiting fundamentals here at Fort Knox.

Capehart previously was a Tactical Unmanned Aircraft Systems (TUAS) Technician. He serves in the Army to protect and preserve the nation that has provided so much to his family and himself, and to uphold the ideal of the American Dream.

“Originally, my motivation was to stand on my own two feet without help from my parents,” Capehart said. “However, that motivation changed part-way through my career, and now I continue to serve to set an example for my children and provide the best possible life for them with the knowledge and ability that I possess.”

Capehart looks forward to providing opportunities for civilians to become Soldiers. His goal is to assist in branding the Army in a way that showcases it as a first option for success and opportunity.

“I hope to assist the command in reaching the most qualified and dedicated Americans and providing them with opportunities similar to the ones I have been fortunate enough to have,” Capehart said. “Simultaneously, I aim to engage with government, business and education leaders to help shape the Army of the future.”

Capehart, a six-time combat veteran, enjoys kayaking, hiking, family time and is passionate about staying fit when not working.

“Several leaders have coached or mentored me along the way,” Capehart said. “However, if there is one person who stands out, it would be my wife, Samantha, a former Active Duty NCO and now a USAR AG Officer. She and I consistently push each other to achieve our military goals and set new ones while still raising our family.”
