FORT KNOX, Ky. –
Sgt. 1st Class Ruban Rodriguez, a native of San Antonio, Texas, began his Army career as a unit supply specialist. Rodriguez chose this job because of his interest in logistics and coordination. USAREC leadership recently recognized him for his recruiting efforts.
“I serve in the United States Army because I like the competitive nature it holds, as well as the developmental courses it offers,” Rodriguez said. “The Army constantly challenges me in different assignments and assists me in my personal and career growth. The Army also assists and provides my family and me the stability that I need to support them.”
He has found success in recruiting and been recognized with receiving the Gold Badge, Gold Recruiting Ring and the Glenn E. Morrel Award for Recruiting.
“USAREC provides me the opportunity for family time and family growth – something I’ve been missing out on in the conventional Army,” Rodriguez said.
His motivation comes from the Army offering so many career opportunities and his desire to be a part of something bigger and greater than himself.
When not recruiting, Rodriguez enjoys golfing, family time, and coaching and mentoring youth sports. He dreams of becoming a sergeant major to assist Soldiers and guide them in the right path while potentially making a difference in the Army. He attributes his achievements to his support system.
“The people who contribute the most to my success are my grandparents,” Rodriguez said. “Being raised by them, instilled certain attributes, and meaning in my life to ‘never quit, and finish everything I start.’ That is something they have always instilled in everything that I do in life. Thank you, Grandma and Grandpa.”
