Fort Knox, KY –
In a ceremony held at Fort Knox, Kentucky on November 17, the United States Army Recruiting Command presented the 2022 “Organizational Support Employee of the Year” award to Michell Burdine, Secretary to the Commander, 3rd Recruiting Brigade Headquarters.
You might ask yourself – what sort of person is capable of winning an award for largely behind-the-scenes efforts? How does one project a pleasant demeanor while coordinating chaos? We are lucky that Burdine agreed to answer a few questions to help us understand.
Q: How long have you been in your current position?
A: 4 years, 10 months
Q. What is something you find rewarding in your duties?
A: It is rewarding -and sometimes challenging- to coordinate official travel arrangements with pre-existing plans or last-minute changes. When the scheduling works out, it is rewarding! Also, I have unique opportunities to talk with people from many different backgrounds and the privilege of working with some awesome people!
Q: Do you have any Military affiliation outside of your duties?
A: My husband is currently serving; my dad and two of my grandfathers were in the Army, one of which was a Prisoner of War during WWII.
Q: What outside of work hobbies keep you grounded or reduce stress?
A: Reading, spending time with family and friends, and playing around with our two German Shepherds.
Q: What is something completely random about you?
A: I am Advanced Scuba diving certified, and I love the Harleys!
Thank you, Burdine, for your contributions which make the Frontier Brigade run so smoothly!
