FORT KNOX, Ky. –
Leaders and staff of the Recruiting and Retention College bid farewell to one leader and welcomed another during a change of responsibility ceremony here Nov. 21.
Command Sgt. Maj. Joseph Multunas relinquished the responsibility of training Army recruiters, to Command Sgt. Maj. Craig Russell.
The Recruiting and Retention College Commandant Col. Christopher Stallings hosted the ceremony.
“During your three years as the CSM of the RRC, you on-boarded three different commandants and spearheaded the redesign of the Senior Leaders Course Curriculum,” Stallings said. “Additionally, as the Commandant of the SLC, your leadership was lauded by the TRADOC CSM for your efforts that directly eliminated the largest backlog of sergeants first class in the Army. Finally, your guidance was the critical difference that shaped the Recruiter Live-Fire Exercise as it exists today.”
Multunas served three years as the RRC command sergeant major. During his tenure, the RRC trained more than 20,000 students, the RRC received the highest marks for accreditation and most recently an instructor was recognized for being Instructor of the Year at the TRADOC level.
“It has been an absolute honor to be a part of this elite team of professionals,” Multunas said. “I am confident that many more accolades will come in the near future.”
Multunas is retiring in January.
As the new senior enlisted advisor, Russell noted that the transition was seamless and he is looking forward to working with the team.
“To the Soldiers and Civilians of the world class team at the Recruiting Retention College, your reputation precedes you,” Russell said. “It is an honor to be a part of the team. I look forward to serving with, learning from and growing collectively. We will continue to seek ways to improve and provide cutting edge programs of instruction that ensure we have the best prepared, adaptive leaders ready to surpass the Army’s and Our Nation’s Mission requirements. I’m excited to work with each of you.
Russell is married to Cristy Russell and they have three children.
