Gen. Stephen J. Townsend, commanding general of U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command, participated in the conference and the Annual Awards Luncheon to highlight the efforts of the command’s noncommissioned officers and civilians of the year for fiscal 2018.
“I tell folks all the time that TRADOC is the team that builds the greatest Army in the world,” the general said. “No one plays a more important role, a more direct role in building our Army than the men and women of U.S. Army Recruiting Command.”
Townsend was recently designated as the senior responsible official for Army accessions and has been visiting recruiting stations across the country to better understand the challenges recruiters face and the work they do every day to find quality men and women to serve.
“You’re not just recruiters,” Townsend told the crowd at the luncheon. “You’re soldiers, you’re mentors, you’re coaches, and you’re role models. You always place the mission first, you get everything you can into the fight and you do everything you can to accomplish the mission for our Army and for our nation.”
