Army Chaplains help others take small steps to save lives

Every year, the Department of Defense observes the month of September as Suicide Prevention Month and this year’s theme is “Small steps save lives!” “Taking a small step means recognizing and responding to the signs of a person who is at-risk for a suicidal crisis,” explained the U.S. Army Medical Recruiting Brigade Chaplain Capt. William Yi. “And you care about these signs and that person.”

Future Soldiers start Army career with a hole-in-one

For young men and woman who choose to join the U.S. Army, their first steps as Soldiers usually take place at a Military Entrance Processing Station with only a few family members there to congratulate them on their decision to serve. A simple ceremony that only lasts about a minute, resulting in the lifetime title of Army Soldier.

Meet Michael Winter, a future Army Soldier “I’m here to join the Army Reserve,” Michael Winter said proudly. “It aligns with what I want to do, where, in the near future, I can be successful and provide for my family.” While some future Soldiers travel to MEPS with only their recruiter to guide them, Michael Winter arrived to Beckley with his biggest fan, Army recruiter and father, Master Sgt. Timothy Winter.

U.S. Army will achieve recruiting mission, improve quality in FY19

The Department of the Army announced at the Pentagon today that it will achieve its regular Army recruiting goal of 68,000 new Soldiers this year. The recruiting goal was met in large part because of an overhauled recruiting approach and an increase in recruiters. “We are extremely proud of the Army’s recruiting efforts,” said acting secretary of the Army, Ryan D. McCarthy. “We changed the way we do business and got results. We are ensuring the Army is ready now and investing in the future."

Houston Medical Recruiting Company host biennial ceremony “The Avenger Way!”

Soldiers assigned to the Houston Medical Recruiting Company carry out the U.S. Army’s medical recruiting mission across four states (southeast Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, and part of west Mississippi). But they were able to rally together in Houston for their company’s biennial change of command ceremony at Hermann Park Conservancy, Sept. 5.
