Las Vegas teen loses over 100 pounds to join Army

LAS VEGAS — Luis Enrique Pinto Jr. joined the Army so he could do something different. But first, he had to do something extraordinary. Just seven months ago, the 6-foot-1-inch teenager was overweight at 317 pounds and unable to pass the Army's weight requirements.

Soldier recruits wife to join Army

FORT JACKSON, S.C. — Staff Sgt. Joshua Mitchell is used to talking with various people about military careers and the benefits that are offered to those who choose to wear the uniform and serve their country as a Soldier. As a recruiter in the Malden, Massachusetts area, he is constantly talking to strangers, even off-duty, according to his wife Eunjee.

TRADOC recognizes Army's best instructors of 2019

JOINT BASE LANGLEY-EUSTIS, Va. — U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command recognized the Army’s seven best instructors during the 2019 TRADOC Instructor of the Year Awards ceremony here, August 7. During the ceremony, Gen. Paul E. Funk II, commanding general, TRADOC, praised the winners and emphasized the critical role Army instructors play in mission success.

Putting in sweat: Soldier gives all to make fitness team

FORT KNOX, Ky. — Sgt. 1st Class Carlos Zayas wiped the sweat off his brow as he glared at the box on the floor in front of him. Listening to the loud music that echoed throughout the gym, Zayas took a deep breath as he anticipated his next set of exercises.

August is Antiterrorism Awareness Month

FORT KNOX, Ky. — August is Antiterrorism Awareness Month in the Army. This is the Army's tenth annual observance of this call to action for Soldiers, Army Civilians, Family members and retirees to be aware of the dangers posed by terrorism and to be prepared to help combat terrorism. Terrorist attacks have continued at an alarming pace this year. Vigilance and awareness remain critical to countering threats as the online radicalization and mobilization to violence continues to rise.
