URGENT NEWS: Army Recruiting discredits military draft texts

A number of fraudulent text messages informing individuals they have been selected for a military draft have circulated throughout the country this week. U.S. Army Recruiting Command has received multiple calls and emails about these fake text messages and wants to ensure Americans understand these texts are false and were not initiated by this command or the U.S. Army.

New entrance test to increase Soldier quality, reduce attrition

A new military entrance exam is now being given to Army recruits to predict performance, behaviors, attitude, and attrition of potential Soldiers. The pilot program is designed to see how the Army can get best-fit recruits, even in jobs that require slightly higher standardized test scores than the applicant achieved.

USAREC deputy commander promoted to brigadier general

U.S. Army Recruiting Command’s deputy commander received his first star during a promotion ceremony at the Sadowski Center here today. Brig. Gen. Patrick Michaelis, who joined the USAREC command team in June, was promoted by Gen. Paul E. Funk, commanding general, U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command.
