LANSING, Mich. –
Lt. Col. Robert Heffner, Great Lakes Recruiting Battalion outgoing commander, relinquished command to Lt. Col. Quentin McCart, incoming battalion commander, during a change of command ceremony held May 23, in Lansing.
Heffner served as the battalion commander for GLRB since 2022. Under his leadership, the battalion enlisted over 2,700 Soldiers and achieved production numbers not seen since pre-COVID 2019.
“I hope that while I’ve been in command, [I’ve been] able to take at least one rock from [every recruiter’s and officer’s] rucksack,” Heffner said. “I am truly honored and privileged to have served as Wolverine 6 and the commander of this battalion.”
McCart, who graduated from Western Michigan University in 2001, transition to the GLRB is a like returning home. He now has extensive leadership experience, which he will incorporate while serving as battalion commander.
Most recently, McCart served as the Professor of Military Science at the University of Illinois at Chicago, United States Army Cadet Command.
“In reviewing McCart’s resume, it proves the Army gets it right when we select leaders for command,” Col. Scott Allen, 3rd Recruiting Brigade Commander said.
“The battalion will be in good hands.”
