Mike's Carwash joins Army PaYS

By Rob Bonner, A&PA Columbus Army Recruiting Battalion

U.S. Army Recruiting Battalion Columbus welcomed Mike's Carwash as the newest Partnership for Youth Success partner here in Loveland Feb. 28.

Lt. Col. Che Arosemena, Columbus Recruiting Battalion commander, and Mr. Ty Dubay, Mike's Carwash's chief operating officer, signed a PaYS memorandum of agreement, formalizing a partnership that offers post-service job opportunities to Soldiers and provides employers with a pool of highly skilled, motivated and professional candidates to fill their personnel needs.

PaYS is a strategic partnership between the Army and a cross section of corporations, companies and public sector agencies. The program provides America’s youth with an opportunity to serve their country while they prepare for their future. PaYS partners guarantee Soldiers an interview and possible employment after the Army. This unique program is part of the Army’s effort to partner with America’s business community and reconnect America with its Army.

Mike's Carwash has been in business for more than 70 years, opening their first car wash June 1, 1948.  At that time there were only 18 automatic car washes across the nation, while today there are more than 80,000. Mike's continues to grow the family-owned and operated business.

Secret to Success

"Treat people the way you want to be treated." Ed Dahm "We're in the people business.  We just happen to wash cars."  Joe Dahm

These are two quotes proudly displayed in the conference and training room located in their headquarters. As with the Army values, Mike's Carwash prides itself on taking care of people, both their customers and employees. This was witnessed first-hand during the ceremony as Mike Dahm, president of Mike's Carwash, gathered every available employee and personally served everyone in attendance a piece of cake.
