FORT KNOX, Ky. –
U.S. Army Recruiting Command is stopping movement of all new students to the Recruiting and Retention College effective immediately, based on guidance issued March 13 by the Department of Defense to restrict domestic travel in an effort to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
All new courses and associated travel are cancelled for the duration of the DoD’s domestic travel ban March 16 through May 11.
“The health and safety of our USAREC team absolutely is and will remain my priority,” said Maj. Gen. Frank Muth, commanding general for U.S. Army Recruiting Command. “We will continue to monitor this every day and do everything we can to ensure we are taking the necessary precautions to protect our force.”
Under the current guidance, the 250 RRC students currently at Fort Knox for the Army Recruiter Course, Station Commander Course, and 79R and 79S Senior Leader Courses will remain at Fort Knox, complete their coursework, and return to their duty stations as planned, in accordance with DoD guidance. The last of the 10 courses currently in session is scheduled for graduation April 24.
The RRC is taking steps to ensure its students, faculty and staff are safe and healthy. The school has increased the availability of hand sanitizing stations and is disinfecting classrooms daily. They have also shifted classes based on social distancing guidance to ensure there is adequate space between students while in the learning environment.
U.S. Army Recruiting Command and RRC leaders will continue to evaluate the situation as well as guidance from DoD, the Department of the Army, and the Centers for Disease Control when making further decisions regarding current and future courses.
