FORT KNOX, Kentucky (August 28, 2018) - Battle Creek Company Commander Capt. Alyssa Ring represented the Army at the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) annual Women’s Equality Day luncheon at the Hart-Dole-Inouye Federal Center, located in Battle Creek, Michigan.
Capt. Ring was one of three panel members who discussed the types of barriers women may face as they progress in their careers, and advice they would offer to the next generation of women leaders.
“Being a leader is something you can do anywhere,” said Ring. “You can lead from anywhere and in any position, and people will take notice.”
Women’s Equality Day celebrates the passage of the 19th Amendment, which granted women the right to vote on August 26, 1920. It was established by a Joint Resolution of Congress at the behest of Rep. Bella Abzug (D-NY) in 1971, and passed in 1973.
“In the Army, there is no glass ceiling,” Ring said, as part of her closing remarks.
