U.S. Army partners with Centura Health

By Andrew Lynch 6th Medical Recruiting Battalion

The U.S. Army and Centura Health signed a partnership agreement on May 22 as part of the U.S. Army Partnership for Youth Success (PaYS) program. The 6th Medical Recruiting Battalion Commander, Lt. Col. Matthew Mapes, and Amy King, senior vice president and chief people manager, Centura Health, signed the memorandum of agreement during a ceremony at St. Anthony Hospital attended by Soldiers from the Aurora Medical Recruiting Station and Centura Health employees.

“The United States Army and Army Medicine are excited to add Centura Health to its team of partners in the Partnership for Youth Success Program,” said Mapes. “We are proud of our partnerships that enable our recruiters to offer applicants quality employment opportunities during and after their Army service.”

PaYS was developed to help the Army attract, train and deploy talented young people who want to serve their country, but also want to help secure their future success once their military service is complete. It connects Soldiers to potential employers by providing two guaranteed job interviews and possible employment. Soldiers who participate in the program gain leadership, valuable technical skills, and experience while providing employers with a pool of highly skilled, motivated and professional candidates from which they may fill their personnel needs.

“Centura Health is excited for the first interview and every one that follows as a result of this partnership with the U.S. Army,” said King. “The character traits such as respect, integrity, and service that the Army instills in its soldiers aligns with the unstoppable force of our Centura Health caregivers. We are neighbors serving neighbors on a mission to create flourishing communities and health care that goes beyond just the physical aspects.”

PaYS is a strategic partnership program between the Army and a cross-section of U.S. corporations and public sector agencies. The Army’s list of corporate partners in the state is growing. Centura Health is the ninth organization in Colorado to partner with the PaYS program.

In October 2016, Centura Health’s Primrose-St. Francis Health Services joined the PaYS program and yesterday’s agreement brings the remainder of their 17 hospitals under the PaYS partnership.

“Each year, thousands of young men and women develop valuable skills and gain experience in a broad spectrum of Army jobs. They are motivated, have professional work habits, and high standards of conduct,” said Mapes. “This partnership is one way we can ensure our Soldiers continue to achieve success after leaving the Army, and that American civilian employers can benefit by gaining quality employees.”

Centura Health jobs are scheduled to be available in the Army’s PaYS database soon. For more information, interested applicants may visit their local recruiter or log on to www.armypays.com.
