Command Sergeant Major Thomas J. Putnam

Command Sergeant Major Thomas Putnam enlisted into the U.S. Army in June of 2000 and attended One Station Unit Training (OSUT) as an 11B (Infantryman) at Fort Benning, Georgia.  

Command Sergeant Major Putnam’s assignments include the 3rd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Georgia where he served as a Rifleman, 240 AG, Team Leader and Training NCO; He was later detailed for Army Recruiting and assigned to the New Orleans Recruiting Battalion, Baton Rouge Company & New Orleans Company where he served as a Recruiter and Station Commander.  Command Sergeant Major Putnam reclassified to the MOS 79R in 2006 and was later reassigned to the Headquarters of 6th Recruiting Brigade, Las Vegas, NV as a Brigade Master Trainer; the Las Vegas Company, Salt Lake City Battalion as the First Sergeant; 2nd Recruiting Brigade Headquarters Redstone Arsenal as the Brigade Senior Master Trainer; Instructor at USASMA Sergeants Major Course, Distance Education; and CSM of the Salt Lake City Recruiting Battalion.

Command Sergeant Major Putnam’s military education includes the Basic Leaders Course, Advance Leaders Course, Senior Leaders Course, Army Recruiter Course, Station Commander Course, Master Resiliency Trainer Course and the Recruiting Company Leadership Course.  Command Sergeant Major Putnam is graduate of the United States Sergeants Major Academy, Sergeants Major Course, Class 67.  

Command Sergeant Major Putnam’s civilian education includes a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Business Management/Marketing from Park University and a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Texas at El Paso.

Command Sergeant Major Putnam’s awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (5th award), Army Commendation Medal (6th award), Army Achievement Medal (4th award), Good Conduct Medal (6th award), National Defense Service Medal (2nd award), Kosovo Campaign Service Medal (Bronze Star), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (5th award), Army Service Ribbon, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, NATO Medal, Army Recruiter Badge (Gold), Drivers Badge (wheel), Expert Infantryman’s Badge, Combat Infantryman’s Badge.

Command Sergeant Major Putnam is a member of the distinguished Sergeant Audie Murphy Club.

Command Sergeant Major Putnam is married to his wife Bianca and have two daughters Tori and Courtney.
