Sergeant 1st Class Walter E. Craig Jr.

Sergeant 1st Class Walter E. Craig Jr., a service rifle shooter with the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit, Fort Benning, Ga., has distinguished himself through his many accomplishments. A Cleveland, TN. native, Craig graduated from Cleveland High School in 1986.

He enlisted in the Army July 17, 2003, and completed Basic Training at Fort Knox, Ky., and Administrative Training at Fort Jackson, S.C., before being assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, N.C. He completed Airborne School at Fort Benning, Ga., and joined the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit Service Rifle Team August 2004.

Craig completed these military schools: Basic Training, Fort Knox, Ky., (2003); Administrative Specialist School, Fort Jackson, S.C., (2003); Airborne School, Fort Benning, Ga., (2003); Combat Lifesaver Course, Fort Benning, Ga., (2004); Instructor Training Course, Fort Benning, Ga., (2004); and Warrior Leaders Course, Fort Benning, Ga., (2006); Ranger School, Fort Benning, Ga., (2007), Advanced Leaders Course , Fort Benning, GA (2009), Sniper Course (2011), Senior Leaders Course, Fort Benning, GA (2016).

His military awards include the Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officers Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Distinguished Rifleman Badge and Accessions Support Brigade Noncommissioned Officer of the Year.
