Staff Sergeant Cody Shields

Staff Sergeant Shields was born in Zanesville Ohio. Graduated Harcourt High School in 2001. He enlisted in the Army National Guard in 2008 and completed Infantry OSUT training at Fort Benning Georgia. A graduate of US Army sniper school at Fort Benning in 2011. He deployed to Afghanistan with 1 -148 IN CO, 37th IBCT.  Shields is a graduate of the University of Akron in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering Technologies, and worked in electronics industry for 4 years before enlisting with the USAMU in 2017.

Shields has earned many shooting awards since he started competitive shooting in 1999 as a junior competitor. Earning his distinguished rifleman’s badge in 2003, Presidents 100 tab in 2008, Honor graduate US Army sniper school 2011, NRA runner up in the 2011 national matches, Porter trophy winner 2013, Hearst Doubles winning 2 man team 2017, Firing team member winning Infantry trophy team 2017, Firing team member record setting Interservice 10 man team Quantico VA 2017. Firing team member record setting 1000yd Interservice 6 man service rifle team member Quantico VA 2017. Firing team Member winning 10 man team Quantico VA 2018. Firing team member 2019 10 man team Quantico VA, Firing team member 6 man team member 2019 CMP National Matches. MEB NCO of the year 2019.
