Specialist Luke Rettmer was born in Bellingham Wa. Rettmer graduated from Lynden Christian High School of Lynden, Wa in 2017. He enlisted in the Army in April of 2019 and completed Basic Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. After graduating from Small Arms Repair School at Fort Lee, Va., he was assigned to the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit Service Rifle Team in November 2019.
Rettmer has had a distinguished shooting career prior to his arrival to the USAMU. His most notable accomplishments include the 2016 Golden Eagle Trophy, 2015 U21 Fullbore champion, and 2019 U21 World Long Range champion.
His military training includes the completion of Basic Combat Training and AIT, earning him the MOS of 91F.
His awards include the CMP Distinguished Rifleman’s Badge (2015), NRA International Rifleman’s Badge (2016), Presidents 100 Tab (2016), National Defense Service Medal (2019), Army Service Ribbon (2019), and Army Achievement Medal (2019).
