Staff Sergeant David Bahten

Staff Sergeant Bahten was born in Sonora, Calif., and graduated from Sonora High School in 2007.  He joined the Army in May 10, 2011, and was assigned to the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit Service Rifle Team Aug. of 2011, after he completed OSUT Training at Ft. Benning, GA.

Bahten has earned many accolades since he began shooting competitively in 2003. He earned his Presidents Hundred Tab in 2007. Bahten has been a member of multiple Interservice 10-man Team championships, 6-man National Trophy Teams and placed second overall in the NRA Service Rifle championship in 2015 and 2016. In 2018 and 2019 he won the Lt. Col. Reynolds Trophy, setting the record in 2018. SSG Bahten has been a firing member of many record setting teams including the 2018 National Trophy Team match, MCCDC, Interservice 6 man 1000 yard Team Match Division A and the 2017 Interservice 10-man Team championship. He also deployed to Afghanistan in 2011 with the unit.

His awards include Army Commendation Medal (2), Army Achievement Medal (3), Army Good Conduct Medal (2), National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal w/ Campaign Star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (2), Army Service Ribbon, NATO Medal, Distinguished Rifleman Badge, and President’s Hundred Tab.
