1st Lt. Sarah Elizabeth Beard

1st Lt. Sarah Beard was raised in Danville, Indiana, and graduated from Covenant Christian High School as salutatorian in 2009. In 2013, she graduated magna cum laude from Texas Christian University earning a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Spanish. She immediately moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado, to continue training at the Olympic Training Center.

In 2017, Beard enlisted in the Army, attending Basic Combat Training followed by Officer Candidate School. She earned her commission into the U.S. Army Reserve in August 2017. After completing Signal Corps branch training, she joined the World Class Athlete Program and continued training at the Olympic Training Center. She attached to the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit (USAMU) in 2018 and competes in 50m Three-Position Smallbore and 10m Air Rifle. 

Her awards include the Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Army Service Ribbon, as well as the International Distinguished Badge. She graduated Honor Graduate from Signal Basic Officer’s Leadership Course (2018) and Soldier Leader of the Cycle from Basic Combat Training (2017).
