Command Sgt. Maj. Thomas B. McEwen

Command Sergeant Major Thomas B. McEwen is a native of Toledo, Ohio. He enlisted in the United States Army in September 1995 as a cannon crewmember. He attended One Station Unit Training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.

McEwen has served as a cannon crewmember, ammunition team chief, gunner, section chief, recruiter, center leader, first sergeant, operations sergeant major, and command sergeant major. His assignments include Fort Drum, New York; Fort Jackson, South Carolina; and in the United States Army Recruiting Command in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Recruiting Battalion; Beckley, West Virginia Recruiting Battalion; Columbus, Ohio Recruiting Battalion; Milwaukee, Wisconsin Recruiting Battalion; Cleveland, Ohio Recruiting Battalion; and currently in the Columbia Recruiting Battalion. He has deployed twice to Egypt and once to Bosnia.

McEwen’s military education includes the Basic Leader Course, Advanced Leaders Course, Army Recruiter Course, Senior Leaders Course, Station Commander Course, Department of the Army First Sergeant Course, Recruiting First Sergeant Course, Initial Entry Training Company Commander/First Sergeant Course, Sergeants Major Course, and Master Resilience Course. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Columbia Southern University and Master of Business Administration in Sports Management from Columbia Southern University.

McEwen’s awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (4th Award), Army Commendation Medal (5th Award), Army Achievement Medal (7th Award), Army Good Conduct Medal (7th Award), National Defense Service Medal (1 Bronze Star), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (5th Award), Overseas Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, NATO Medal, Multinational Force Observers Medal (2nd Award), Army Superior Unit Award, and Gold Recruiter Badge with Three Sapphire Stars.

McEwen is married.
