Col. Mark P. Olin


Col. Mark Olin is the Commander of the 2nd Recruiting Brigade located at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama. He commissioned as an Infantry officer from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1994 and attended Ranger School after graduating from the Infantry Officer Basic Course at Fort Benning, Georgia.

He served as a Rifle and Anti-Armor Platoon Leader in 1-187th Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, Kentucky then volunteered for duty in Korea prior to attending the Infantry Officer Advanced Course and was subsequently assigned to 2-9th Infantry, 2d Infantry Division at Camp Casey, Korea. Following the Maneuver Captain Career Course he commanded Company B, 3-504th Parachute Infantry Regiment. His most recent command experience was Commander of the Montgomery Recruiting Battalion.

His staff and training assignments include Strength Manager for G1, XVIII Airborne Corps, Infantry team trainer for Army National Guard forces in Mississippi and Alabama, S3 of Area Support Group – Kuwait, operating all Kuwait camps and force protection in support of deployment and redeployment operations to and from Iraq, Battalion S3, XO, and MiTT Leader of 2-4th Infantry, and Brigade S3, 162nd Infantry Brigade, Fort Polk, LA. He served as the Chief of Current Operations in 7th Army/USAREUR in Heidelberg, Germany and as the Chief of Plans and Deputy Commander of Operations Group at the Joint Readiness Training Center.

He is a graduate of the Airborne and Jumpmaster Schools, the Air Assault School, Army Ranger School, Maneuver Captains Career Course, Command and General Staff College, and the Air War College. COL Olin holds a Bachelors of Science Degree in Environmental Science from West Point, a Masters of Science Degree in Workforce Training and Development from the University of Southern Mississippi, and a Masters of Strategic Studies from the Air War College. His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star for service, Meritorious Service Medal with six OLC, Army Commendation Medal with three OLC, Army Achievement Medal with three OLC, the Senior Parachutist Badge, the Expert Infantry Badge, and the Combat Infantry Badge.
