PV2 William Browning was born and raised in rural Doylestown, Ohio. He started shooting at his local Amateur Trapshooting Association (ATA) club at age 6 and began competitions the next year. Browning was recruited by the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit (USAMU) Shotgun Team following his graduation from Chippewa High School in 2022.
Browning enlisted as an 11B (Infantryman) in September 2024 and completed 22 weeks of OSUT at Fort Benning, GA. Upon graduation, he was assigned to the USAMU to compete domestically and internationally in the Olympic discipline of bunker trap. Prior to Browning joining the Unit in March 2025, he established himself as a dominant shooter in both the junior and open ranks.
