Columbia Recruiting Battalion Commander

Lt. Col. Allan J. Catindig

Lt. Col. Allan J. Catindig was born in San Diego, California and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant from New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell, NM in 2001. After commissioning, Catindig held the positions of Assault and Obstacle Platoon Leader, Line Platoon Leader, and Company Executive Officer for B Company, 898th Combat Engineer Battalion in Kearny Mesa, CA as part of the California Army National Guard from June 2001 to August 2004.  Catindig transitioned to active duty in August 2004 and attended Signal Officer Basic Course at Fort Eisenhower, GA.

Catindig’s military assignments include:  Battalion Maintenance Officer, 40th Signal Battalion at Fort Huachuca, AZ; Battalion Assistant S-3 for Training, 40th Signal Battalion; Brigade Assistant S-3 for Training/Dean of Thunderbird University, 11th Theater Tactical Signal Brigade at Fort Huachuca; Company Commander, C Company 40th Expeditionary Signal Battalion at Fort Huachuca, AZ and deployed as commander to Contingency Operating Base Speicher (OIF 07-09) near Tikrit, Iraq; Battalion S-2/S-3 Officer in Charge, 40th Expeditionary Signal Battalion; Company Commander, U.S. Army Recruiting Burlington Company (1A3) at South Burlington, VT covering the entire state of Vermont and northeastern New York; Division Network Operations Officer and Division Network Plans Officer, 1st Armored Division at Fort Bliss, TX; Brigade Combat Team S-6, 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division at Fort Bliss, TX; Assistant Chief of Staff J6, U.S. Central Command Forward – Jordan at King Abdullah II Special Operations Training Center in Amman, Jordan; Brigade Assistant S-3 for Future Operations and Plans, 11th Theater Tactical Signal Brigade at Fort Cavazos, TX; Deputy Command Inspector General, U.S. Army Network and Enterprise Technology Command at Fort Huachuca, AZ; Assistant Chief of Staff G6, 19th Expeditionary Sustainment Command at Camp Henry, Daegu, Republic of Korea; Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff G6, 10th Army Air and Missile Defense Command at Sembach Kaserne, Kaiserslautern Military Community, Germany; Battalion Commander, U.S. Army Recruiting Battalion Columbia covering the entire state of South Carolina, western North Carolina, and the counties around Augusta, Georgia. 

Catindig’s military education includes:  Signal Officer Basic Course in Fort Gordon, Georgia; Signal Captain’s Career Course in Fort Eisenhower, Georgia; completed requirements for Intermediate Level Education via distance learning and previous positions I’ve held; U.S. Army Recruiting and Retention College Pre-Command Course in Fort Knox, KY; U.S. Army Recruiting Commander and First Sergeant Course in Fort Jackson, SC; The Inspector General School in Fort Belvoir, VA; Basic Army Space Course taught at Rhine Ordinance Barracks, DEU.

Catindig has held one prior U.S. Army Recruiting position:  Company Commander for Burlington U.S. Army Recruiting Company (1A3) at South Burlington, VT.

Lt. Col. Catindig’s awards and decorations include:  Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (7OLC), Iraqi Campaign Medal, Global war on Terrorism Expeditionary and Service Medals, Korea Defense Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Superior Unit Award, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, U.S. Army Recruiting Badge, U.S. Army Inspector General’s Badge, Basic Army Space Badge and the U.S. Army Signal Regiment Bronze Order of Mercury.
