Sgt. Avila serves on the United States 'As You Were' Band, where he shares his passion for the musical industry on and off the stage across the United States. Ultimately demonstrating that you can continue to serve and live out your passions, he enlisted in the Army in 2019 as a musician (42R) and is the current lead guitarist for AYW.
His previous duty stations have included: Fort Jackson, South Carolina and Fort Knox, Kentucky.
Sgt. Avila was selected as part of the U.S. Army AYW Band in July of 2023 and has been awarded the Meritorious Service Medal (1), Army Commendation Medal (1), Army Achievement Medal (2), and the Army Good Conduct Ribbon (1).
During his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family and sharing his love for music with the youth by performing at high schools and colleges across the United States.
