U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit Service Pistol Team

Staff Sgt. Mate L. Standard

Staff Sgt. Mate Standard was born in Tyler, Texas. He graduated from Liahona Academy, Houston, Texas in 2007. He joined the Army in 2015 and completed Infantry OSUT training at Fort Benning, Georgia. After graduation he attended Airborne school and was assigned to B Co. 1-508PIR 3BCT 82nd ABN DIV in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. From April 2016 to August 2020 Standard served in every position within an Infantry fire team from Rifleman to Squad Leader.  In August 2020 Standard was assigned to the United States Army Marksmanship Unit Service Pistol Team at Fort Benning, Georgia. Within his first year on the Service Pistol Team, he earned his .22 Pistol Distinguished Badge, Distinguished Pistol Shot Badge and earned his President’s Hundred Tab during the Camp Perry Nationals. 

Standard graduated from Airborne School, Combat Life Saver, Combative Training Course (lv1), Basic Leaders Course, and Advanced Leadership Course. 

His awards include Expert Infantryman Badge, Parachutist Badge, Army Achievement Medal, two Army Good Conduct Medals, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, two Non-Commissioned Officer Development Ribbon, President’s Hundred Tab, EIC-Rifle Bronze Medal, and the Distinguished Pistol Shot Badge.
