Sgt. 1st Class Joel Turner

Team Chief

Sgt. 1st Class Joel Turner was born in Anderson, South Carolina, and graduated from Belton-Honea Path High School in Belton, South Carolina. He joined the Army in 2006 and completed basic, Airborne, and Ranger Indoctrination Program (RIP) at Fort Benning, Georgia.  He was assigned to 3rd Ranger Battalion of the 75th Ranger Regiment.  He served there 4 years as a Rifleman, Grenadier, Sniper, and Reconnaissance Specialist.  He was then assigned to the USAMU and the Action Team in September 2012 as an Instructor/Shooter.  He is currently serving as the Team Chief of the Action Shooting Team.  

Turner graduated from the following military schools or courses: Airborne, RIP, Ranger, Sniper, Combat Life Saver, Equal Opportunity Leaders Coarse, Warrior Leader’s Course, Advanced Leader’s Course, and Senior Leader’s Cource.

Turner has a distinguished shooting career and won his first National Title with only 3 years on the team and multiple 1st place finishes since.   

His military awards include Parachutist Badge, Ranger Tab, Expert Infantryman’s Badge, Combat Infantryman’s Badge, and Excellence in Competition Badge.
