Sgt. 1st Class Michael D. McPhail, an international rifle shooter with the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit, Fort Moore, Georgia, has distinguished himself through his many accomplishments.
A native of Darlington, Wisconsin, McPhail graduated from Darlington High School in 2000 and furthered his education at the University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh. He started shooting in 1996, was a member of his college team and has numerous shooting accomplishments.

He enlisted in the Army Aug. 16, 2004. After he completed Basic and Infantry Training at Fort Benning, he was assigned to the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit Jan. 3, 2005.

McPhail attended Basic Training and Infantry Training, Fort Benning, (2004); and Warrior Leader Course, Fort Benning (2007), Advanced Leader Course, Fort Benning, (2011), Commandants List, Senior Leader Course, Fort Benning, (2017).
