Command Sgt. Maj. Marcos Vazquez is a native of San Juan, Puerto Rico and began his career in the U.S. Army in August 2003. He completed initial entry training in Fort Knox, KY and Fort Leonard Wood, MO as a horizontal construction engineer and was assigned to Fort Hood, Texas.
He entered the recruiting command as a recruiting noncommissioned officer with the Miami Recruiting Battalion. He was later assigned as a Station Commander in North Dade Recruiting Company and Norfolk Company, Richmond Recruiting Battalion. In June 2015, he was chosen to train, assist and advise the Afghan National Army, and later, assumed responsibilities as the First Sergeant of the Little Rock Recruiting Company, Oklahoma City Recruiting Battalion and the Long Beach Recruiting Company, Los Angeles Recruiting Battalion. His previous assignment was as the Operations Sergeant Major for Dallas Recruiting Battalion.
His civilian education consists of a Bachelor of Science from Kaplan University, and he is currently pursuing a Master of Science in leadership from Trident University.
His military education includes Warrior Leadership Course, Basic Recruiting Course, Advance Leadership Course (Construction Equipment Supervisor), Station Commander Course, and Senior Leadership Course (79R) and 1SG and Company Commander USAREC Course, and Graduate of the Sergeants Major Academy Distance Learning Class 46.
He is an inductee of The Glen E. Morrell Order of Recruiting Excellence and is a member of the prestigious Sergeant Audie Murphy Association. Vazquez is married to his lovely wife Desire and has one daughter, Alondra.
