Command Sgt. Maj. Stephen Henderson

Command Sgt. Maj. Stephen Henderson was born in Wilmington, Delaware. In 1997, he enlisted in the Army from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He attended Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Benning, Georgia.

Henderson has served as a rifleman, team leader, squad leader, air assault instructor, recruiter, station commander, brigade trainer, career counselor, first sergeant, battalion operations sergeant major and battalion command sergeant major.

His previous assignments include Fort Stewart, Georgia, Camp Casey, South Korea, Fort Campbell, Kentucky, United States Army Recruiting Battalion Fresno, Seaside Recruiting Station, Gilroy Recruiting Station, San Jose East Recruiting Station, 6th Recruiting Brigade Headquarters, United States Army Recruiting Battalion Tampa, Central Florida Recruiting Company, United States Army Recruiting Battalion Cleveland, New Castle Recruiting Company, United States Army Recruiting Battalion Minneapolis, United States Army Recruiting Battalion Denver and United States Army Recruiting Battalion Salt Lake City. He deployed to Afghanistan with the 2nd Battalion, 327th Infantry, 1BCT, 101st Airborne Division (AASLT) in 2010.

Henderson’s military education includes Basic Leader Course, Army Retention Course, Total Army Instructor Course, Air Assault Course, Rappel Master Course, Airborne Course, Advanced Leader Course, Army Recruiter Course, Station Commander Course, Senior Leader Course, Recruiter Trainer Course, Army Career Counselor Course, First Sergeant Course, Master Resilience Trainer Course, and he is a graduate of the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy Class 68. He holds a degree from Columbia Southern University.

Henderson’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (6th Award), the Army Commendation Medal (2nd Award), the Army Achievement Medal (13th Award), the Army Superior Unit Award, the Army Good Conduct Medal (8th Award), the National Defense Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Korean Defense Service Medal, the Non-commissioned Officers Professional Development Ribbon (numeral 5), the Army Service Medal, the Overseas Service Medal (2nd Award), the NATO Medal, the Gold Recruiter’s Badge with three Sapphires, the Army Career Counselor Badge, the Combat Action Badge, the Basic Parachutist Badge, the Air Assault Badge, the Army Recruiting Ring and the Glen E. Morrell Medallion.
