3rd Recruiting Brigade Commander

Col. Scott Allen

Col. Scott T. Allen took command of the 3rd Recruiting Brigade on July 22, 2022.

Since receiving his commission from Central Washington University’s Army ROTC program, Col. Allen has served in command and staff positions in the Federal Republic of Germany, Fort Hood, Texas, Fort Knox, Kentucky, Fort Riley, Kansas, and Fort Benning, Georgia. His command assignments include, B Company and HHC, 2nd Battalion, 12th Cavalry Regiment, battalion command with the 2nd Battalion, 34th Armor Regiment and brigade command with the 194th Armored Brigade. COL Allen most recently served in the Republic of Korea as the Chief, Training and Exercise Division (J37), United States Forces Korea and subsequently as the Eighth Army Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations (G3).

Col. Allen’s operational deployments include service in Operation Joint Guard, Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation New Dawn, and Operation Inherent Resolve.

His awards and decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal (one oak leaf cluster), Army Meritorious Service Medal (three oak leaf clusters), Army Commendation Medal (two oak leaf clusters), Army Achievement Medal (two oak leaf clusters), the Combat Action Badge, the Parachutist Badge, the Air Assault Badge, and the Ranger Tab.

Col. Allen holds master's degrees from Kansas State University, the School of Advanced Military Studies, and the U.S. Army War College.

Col. Allen is married to the former Melissa Smith of Orchard Park, New York. They have two children, Lance (19) and Alice (12).
