Command Sgt. Maj. Kevin L. Dakin is a native of Waynesville, OH. He entered the Army in 1998. After completing BCT and AIT at Ft Benning, GA he was awarded MOS 11C (Infantry Mortarman). In 2008, he reclassified to MOS 79R (Recruiter).
CSM Dakin’s assignments include: INF Mortar man, 1/21 INF BN, Hawaii; Team Leader 3rd 75th Ranger BN, FT Benning, GA with a tour in Afghanistan; Platoon Sergeant 3/325 INF BN, Ft Bragg, NC with a tour in Iraq; Detailed Recruiter and Station commander in Columbus Recruiting BN at Lebanon and Middletown, OH recruiting stations; Operations NCO, Phoenix Recruiting, AZ; Company First Sergeant Lawton/Amarillo company in Oklahoma City Recruiting BN, OK; Senior Master trainer OKC BN; and Operations Sergeants Major in Central California BN, CA.
CSM Dakin’s military education includes the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy (Class 69), CSM Development Program, BN Pre-CMD Course, Recruiting Commander/ First Sergeants Course, Guidance Counselor- operations course, Senior Leaders Course, Advanced Leaders Course, Basic Leaders Course, Station Commanders Course, Recruiter trainer NCO course, Airborne, Air Assault, Pathfinder, Master Resilience Course, Army Recruiting Course, INF Mortar Leaders course, and Air Movement operation course. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business administration (Implied Management) and a Masters in Science (Leadership) from Grand Canyon University.
His awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (3th award), the Army Commendation Medal (3th award), the Joint Service Achievement Award, the Army Achievement Medal (13th award), Presidential unit citation award, Army superior unit award (3rd award), Iraq Campaign medal (2 Stars), Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Good Conduct Medal (8th award), the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian service medal, Overseas service medal (numeral 2) and the Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (numeral 5). CSM Dakin has earned the Combat infantrymen Badge, Expert infantrymen Badge, Gold Recruiter Badge, the Recruiter Ring, and has been inducted into the Glen E. Morrell Order of Recruiting Excellence. CSM Dakin is a member of the prestigious Sergeant Audie Murphy Club.
