MIAMI RECRUITING BATTALION COMMANDER

Lieutenant Colonel Virginia A. Knorr

Lieutenant Colonel Virginia A. Knorr is from Traer, Iowa. She enlisted in the United States Army Reserves in February of 1995 as a 92A, Automated Logistics Specialist. In May of 2002, she received her commission in the United States Army as a Quartermaster Corps Officer from the University of Northern Iowa Reserve Officer Training Corps program.

LTC Knorr has served in a variety of assignments at every level of command including: Detachment Commander, 406th Trailer Transfer Detachment, 180th Transportation Battalion in Fort Hood, TX and Iraq; Accountable Officer and Rear Detachment Commander, 289th Quartermaster Company, 180th Transportation Battalion, Fort Hood, TX; S4, 2nd Chemical Battalion, 64th Command Support Group, Fort Hood, TX; Petroleum Officer, G4, Third Army, Fort McPherson, GA; Retrograde Officer, Third Army, Camp Arifjan, Kuwait; Commander, Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, First Army, Fort Gillem, GA; Executive Officer, 835th Transportation Battalion, Okinawa, Japan; S4 and Deputy Support Operations Officer, 10th Regional Support Group, Okinawa, Japan; Joint Transportation Plans Officer, J4, United States Forces Korea; Materiel Management Branch Chief, 8th Theater Sustainment Command, Fort Shafter, HI; Battalion Commander, Army Field Support Battalion-Afghanistan, Bagram Air Field, Afghanistan and currently as the Deputy Support Operations Officer, 8th Theater Sustainment Command, Fort Shafter, HI.

Lieutenant Colonel Knorr’s education includes a double Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Northern Iowa, a Master’s of Science in Education Psychology from Georgia State University, and a Masters of Military Arts and Science from the Command and General Staff College. Her military education includes the Quartermaster Officer Basic Course, Combined Logistics Captain’s Career Course, the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, and the Joint Forces Staff College.

LTC Knorr’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (2nd Award), Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (2nd Award), Army Commendation Medal (3rd Award), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal (2nd Award), National Defense Service Ribbon (2nd Award), Afghanistan Campaign Medal, (1 Combat Star), Iraq Campaign Medal (1 Combat Star), Global War On Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (2nd Award), Army Reserve Component Overseas Training Ribbon and the NATO Medal Non-Article 5.
