Command Sgt. Maj. Jose R. Hernandez was born on January 1976 in Haina, Dominican Republic. He enlisted in the U.S. Army as an 88M Motor Transport Operator in March 1998 after completion of a 4 Year Enlistment with the United States Marine Corps. His initial duty station with the Army was at Ft Riley Kansas. He served in numerous assignments at the Company, Battalion, and Division Levels to include Driver/Chauffeur, Squad leader, Assistant Truckmaster, Recruiter, Recruiting Center Leader, Writer/Developer/Instructor U.S Army Recruiting and Retention School, and Recruiting Company First Sergeant.
In December 2015, Hernandez was selected to attend the Sergeants Major Course held at the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy at Fort Bliss, Texas. Hernandez has attended every level of NCOPDS commensurate with his rank. In addition, he attended the Recruiting First Sergeant’s Course, Resiliency Executive’s Course, Master Resiliency Trainer Course, Recruiter Trainer Course, Basic Instructor's Course, Recruiting Center Leader’s Course, Basic Recruiter Course, and Unit Prevention Leader’s Course.
Hernandez awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (2OLC), the Army Commendation Medal (3OLC), the Army Achievement Medal (4OLC), the Meritorious Unit Commendation Medal, Army Superior Unit Award, the Army Good Conduct Medal (5th award), Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal (3 Service stars), The Overseas Service Ribbon, The SMA Glen E. Morrell Recruiting Medallion, the Gold Recruiter Badge (3 Sapphire Stars), the Basic Recruiter Badge (3 Gold Stars) and the German Marksmanship Badge (Schuetzenschnur) Silver, in 2015 CSM Hernandez was awarded the U.S. Army Recruiting Command’s Excellence in Recruiting Medallion for his significant contributions to the field of recruiting.
Hernandez holds a Master’s Degree in Health Care Administration from Park University, a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and an Associate Degree in Business Administration from Columbia Southern University.
