U.S. Army 5th Medical Recruiting Battalion
Headquartered at Join Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston, Texas the U.S. Army 5th Medical Recruiting Battalion (MRB) is responsible for recruiting the highest quality applicants to man the Army's Medical Department (AMEDD) and U.S. Army Chaplain Corps on active duty and in the Army Reserve. The 5th MRB is one of five medical recruiting battalions assigned throughout the U.S. Army Recruiting Command whose responsibility is to fill U.S. Army Chaplain Corps manning needs along with those of the six AMEDD corps for the Office of the Surgeon General, U.S. Army, and the Office of the Chief of the U.S. Army Reserve.
The 5th MRB's area of operation includes 10 states, encompassing more than 720,000 square-miles throughout the Central Plains Region of the United States. The battalion consists of three medical recruiting companies: Army Medical Recruiting Company San Antonio, Texas; Army Medical Recruiting Company Kansas City, Kansas; and the Army Medical Recruiting Company Houston, Texas. The medical recruiting companies are comprised of both commissioned and noncommissioned officers responsible for recruiting and processing qualified health care professionals for the Regular Army and the Army Reserve.
Lt. Col. Matthew Moore is the 5th Medical Recruiting Battalion's commander and Command Sgt. Maj. Everet Guerra is the 5th Medical Recruiting Battalion's senior enlisted leader.
