1st Medical Recruiting Battalion

Welcome to the 1st Medical Recruiting Battalion (MRB)! The MRB covers 15 states and over 260,000 square miles plus Europe. We have a vital mission of recruiting healthcare professionals for our Army. Our ranks are filled with officers, NCOs, civilians and contractors. General Chiarelli described recruiting as the “most important mission on the home front.” Although we’ve been in a persistent state of conflict for over a half a decade our recruiting numbers are at a all time high during this same period. We recruit the all volunteer healthcare force who will be charged with saving America’s Hero’s everyday. It takes everyone on the team to include support from home in order to accomplish this mission We thank each of you for stepping up to join the recruiting effort. I am confident that you will meet each challenge with a positive attitude and successfully accomplish your professional and personal goals while you are here.

As you begin your transition to recruiting duty we will assign you a sponsor. You will also receive a welcome packet from the battalion as well as a sponsor from your designated Medical Recruiting Company or Station. Our S-1 section can assist you in receiving the welcome packet. They can be contacted at (301) 677-7450 or you can email by clicking here. Please ensure you have the following checklist either completed, or items with you upon signing into the battalion. Many of our recruiting sites are not located on or near a military facility so it is important to prepare yourself prior to your move. Your sponsor will assist.

You will also need to attend the Healthcare Recruiters Course either during your PCS or shortly after you arrive. This is a three week course conducted at Ft Jackson, SC. We would also advise that you speak to every military healthcare professional that you come across to ask them “their story” – what was their draw to the military?

We look forward to having each of you on our team.

Again, Welcome to the Patriot Battalion.

As the COVID-19 vaccination effort ramps up across the country, a key element to delivering the vaccine is having enough qualified healthcare workers to administer the doses. For Master Sgt. Carolyn Lange, this presented an opportunity to maintain her skills as a Licensed Practical Nurse while serving as a recruiter with the U.S. Army 1st Medical Recruiting Battalion on Fort Meade, Maryland.
