Putting in sweat: Soldier gives all to make fitness team

FORT KNOX, Ky. — Sgt. 1st Class Carlos Zayas wiped the sweat off his brow as he glared at the box on the floor in front of him. Listening to the loud music that echoed throughout the gym, Zayas took a deep breath as he anticipated his next set of exercises.

Gen. Paul Funk II, commanding general of U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command, and Medal of Honor Recipient Staff Sgt. August is Antiterrorism Awareness Month

FORT KNOX, Ky. — August is Antiterrorism Awareness Month in the Army. This is the Army's tenth annual observance of this call to action for Soldiers, Army Civilians, Family members and retirees to be aware of the dangers posed by terrorism and to be prepared to help combat terrorism. Terrorist attacks have continued at an alarming pace this year. Vigilance and awareness remain critical to countering threats as the online radicalization and mobilization to violence continues to rise.

Soldiers vie in survival of the fittest at 2019 CrossFit Games

MADISON, Wis. — The sound of cheering carried across the Alliant Energy Center as the top athletes from over 100 countries took the field Thursday during the 2019 CrossFit Games opening ceremony.

Recruiting Command headquarters hosts inaugural ASBP blood drive

FORT LEONARDWOOD, Mo. — The U.S. Army Recruiting Command headquarters team officially joined the Armed Services Blood Program family July 19, donating 44 units of blood in their inaugural drive.

Brian Burrows and U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Derek Haldeman represented Team USA in Men’s Trap at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru. Not only did these two athletes claim the Gold and Silver Medals, they claimed the last two possible Olympic quotas in Men’s Trap for Team USA, something that has not happened since 2008! It came at the exact moment when Brazil’s Roberto Schmits was eliminated from the Men’s Trap competition in third place.
