Our Battalion
The New York City Recruiting Battalion spans 1,677 square miles and, though it is not considered large geographically, the population serviced in the New York City Metropolitan area is one of the densest in the United States, exceeding 10 million. To meet this challenge, the assigned battalion strength of 270 military and civilian personnel is one of the largest in the United States Army Recruiting Command.
The New York City Recruiting Battalion has six recruiting companies and 20 Recruiting Centers including the Times Square Forward Engagement Center which is one of the most famous in the country. Brooklyn South Company has four recruiting stations in Brooklyn and Staten Island. Brooklyn North Company has three recruiting Centers in Brooklyn and Manhattan. Nassau Company has three Centers in NY. Suffolk Company has three Centers and covers part of Long Island and all of Suffolk County. Bronx Company has four Centers in the Bronx and Westchester County. Queens Company has three Centers in Queens.
The Battalion targets a recruiting base of more than one million people focusing on 607 high schools, 115 post-secondary vocational technical schools and 97 colleges and universities. The battalion headquarters and Military Entrance Processing Station are located on Fort Hamilton less than a mile from the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge.
