New entrance test to increase Soldier quality, reduce attrition

WASHINGTON — A new military entrance exam is now being given to Army recruits to predict performance, behaviors, attitude, and attrition of potential Soldiers. The pilot program is designed to see how the Army can get best-fit recruits, even in jobs that require slightly higher standardized test scores than the applicant achieved.

USAREC deputy commander promoted to brigadier general

FORT KNOX, Ky. — U.S. Army Recruiting Command’s deputy commander received his first star during a promotion ceremony at the Sadowski Center here today. Brig. Gen. Patrick Michaelis, who joined the USAREC command team in June, was promoted by Gen. Paul E. Funk, commanding general, U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command.

17 recruiters earn master recruiter badge in 2019

FORT KNOX, Ky. — Seventeen recruiters from across the command received the Master Recruiter Badge today.

Staff Sgt. Michael Marl and Staff. Sgt. Isaiah Locklear, Army recruiters assigned to the Central California Recruiting Battalion, received the Soldier's Medal during a ceremony held in San Francisco on Nov. 9. The recruiters received this award for their quick actions during a shooting at the Tanforan Mall in San Bruno, California this past July. Marl and Locklear ensured the safety of applicants visiting their recruiting station before running towards the gunfire. They provided aid to two young boys who were injured during the incident.
