Army Strongmen Showcase Athleticism at National Championships

In September, Soldier-Athletes of the U.S. Army tested their mettle against over 200 American athletes during the 2024 Strongman Corporation National Championships held at the Greenville Convention Center in Greenville, South Carolina. These athletic competitions allow Soldiers to support the overall Army recruiting mission by conveying to the greater public that the Army is an institution where individuals can serve the nation while also excelling in their individual passions.

New AMSB Commander Has Deep Roots at Fort Knox

On June 13, 2024, before a large audience of supportive friends and family, Lt. Col. Lyndsey Thompson took command of the U.S. Army Accessions Mission Support Battalion (AMSB) of the U.S. Army Marketing and Engagement Brigade at Flagg Field in Fort Knox, Kentucky. She succeeds Lt. Col. Heather Schmitt, who has led the ‘Workhorse’ Battalion with dedication and distinction for the last two years.

Army Marksmanship Unit Hosts Army Wide Shooting Competition

From March 10-16, 2024, the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit (USAMU), in collaboration with U.S. Army Maneuver Center of Excellence, hosted over 230 competitors from across the U.S. Army, U.S. Army Reserve, Reserve Officers’ Training Corps, National Guard, and the Air National Guard for the U.S. Small Arms Championships at Fort Moore, Georgia. The annual training event, commonly known as All Army allows Soldiers to test their mettle throughout the challenging, week-long competition in both rifle and pistol.

South Carolina National Guard Wins U.S. Army Small Arms Championships

Staff Sgt. John Jordan of the South Carolina National Guard won the title of 2024 All Army Champion at the U.S. Army Small Arms Championships at Fort Moore, Georgia March 10-16. Jordan’s team, South Carolina Alpha, also claimed the title of 2024 U.S. Army Small Arms Team Champions.

U.S. Army Sergeants Ivan Roe and Sagen Maddalena qualified for the 50m Smallbore event at the 2024 Olympic Games during USA Shooting’s Smallbore Rifle/Pistol Olympic Trials-Part 3 March 17-19.

USAMU Soldier inducted into SEC Women's Legends Class of 2024

On March 8, 2024, International Women’s Day, Sgt. Alison Weisz, stood before the fans of her alma mater to receive the honor of being inducted into the Southeastern Conference Women’s Legends Class of 2024. With this recognition, Weisz, a Soldier in the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit, joined a legacy of women who have competed and excelled at the highest level of their respective sports.

U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit Clean Sweeps the Interservice Pistol Championships for the 22nd Consecutive Time

The Interservice Pistol Championships was hosted on Nov. 13-17, 2023, by the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit (USAMU). The championships consisted of 9 shooting competitions- .22 Cal individual and team matches, Centerfire individual and team, .45 Cal individual and team, Service Pistol individual and team, and the Excellence In Competition and Directors match.
