The USARD Protection Working Group conducted a comprehensive two‑day workshop on August 4–5, 2026, led by Mr. Ed Sasan, Antiterrorism Officer for the 2nd Recruiting Brigade. The event featured an immersive visit to both the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Terrorist Explosive Device Analytical Center (TEDAC), offering participants a rare, behind‑the‑scenes look at national investigative and analytical operations.
Attendees began the workshop with an overview of FBI functions and capabilities, gaining insight into the Bureau’s processes, coordination efforts, and investigative framework. The group then toured TEDAC, where experts detailed how each specialized section contributes to the explosive‑device investigation pipeline. From initial evidence intake to technical analysis and final reporting, the briefings highlighted the seamless integration required to complete an investigation effectively. Participants described the presentations as exceptionally clear and informative, strengthening their understanding of how multiple components work together to support national security efforts.
As part of the workshop’s closing, organizers presented tokens of appreciation to several key contributors: TEDAC Explosives Expert Nate Stelle, Assistant Special Agent in Charge Justin Turner of the FBI Birmingham Field Office, and Intelligence Analyst Jane Montgomery. Each honoree was recognized for their professionalism, subject‑matter expertise, and outstanding engagement throughout the event.
