Master Sgt. Zachary Derrick enlisted into the United States Army in February 2008 as an 11B-Infantryman. He completed One Station Unit Training (OSUT) at Fort Benning, Georgia where he was a platoon honor graduate.
Derrick has previously served with 1st Armored Division, 1-36 Infantry Battalion. While with 1-36 he deployed to Mosul, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. After 1-36, the then Sergeant Derrick was reassigned to 3rd Infantry Division, 3-69 Combined Arms Battalion. While with 3-69 he deployed to Jalrez, Wardak, Afghanistan with Special Operations Task Force-East where he was embedded with Special Forces Operation Detachment Alpha (ODA) 3126 and 3336. Upon redeployment, the now Staff Sergeant Derrick was selected to attend Army Recruiter Course where he was assigned to New England Recruiting Battalion, New Hampshire Recruiting Company, Keene Recruiting Center. After serving in the New Hampshire Recruiting Company for five years as a Recruiter and Station Commander, the then Sergeant First Class Derrick was selected as the First Sergeant for the Maine Recruiting Company. After three years serving as the First Sergeant for Maine Company, Master Sergeant Derrick was assigned to the New England Recruiting Battalion Headquarters where he now serves as the Senior Enlisted Advisor.
Derrick’s previous duty positions include Bradley Gunner, Fire Team Leader, Rifle Squad Leader, Section Leader, Master Gunner, Recruiter, Station Commander, and First Sergeant.
Derrick’s awards include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, NATO medal, Gold Army Recruiter Badge, Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Expert Infantryman’s Badge, and Master Gunner Identification Badge.
Derrick is a graduate of American Military University with a Master of Public Policy and Bachelor of Arts in General Studies, Magna Cum Laude.
