6th Recruiting Brigade Commander

Col. Michael L. Lindley

Col. Michael L. Lindley, assumed command of the US Army’s 6th Recruiting Brigade on 20 July 2021.  He was born in Chicago Heights, IL. He was commissioned as a Quartermaster Officer in 1998 following graduation from the United States Military Academy at West Point with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Management.

 His first duty assignment was to Fort Campbell, Kentucky, where he served as a Platoon Leader, Accountable Officer, and Company Commander in the 227th Supply Company and S2/S3, 129th Corps Support Battalion.

Following graduation from the Combined Logistics Officer Advance Course, he served as the S4 and Headquarters Company Commander in the 509th Personnel Services Battalion, Camp Casey, Korea. After a year in Korea, he moved to Fort Lee, Virginia, where he deployed in support of Operation Iraqi     Freedom as the Company Commander for the 506th Quartermaster Company (Force Provider) and served as the S3 for the 530th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion upon his return.

After completing Command and General Staff College, he moved to Fort Hood, Texas, where he served as the Ground Transportation Officer in the 13th Expeditionary Sustainment Command and the Support Operations Officer for the 1st Air Cavalry Brigade. While at Fort Hood, he deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. 

Following his deployments, he served as a Logistics Planner for the United States Army Africa in Vicenza, Italy. He also commanded the Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Center in Anniston, Alabama, before assignment to Stuttgart, Germany, as the J4, Special Operations Command Europe.

He holds a master’s degree in Logistics Management from the Florida Institute of Technology and a master’s degree in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College.  His additional skill identifiers include Air Assault, Master Fitness, Airborne, Joint Planning, and Security Assistance Management.

His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (2), Defense Meritorious Service Medal (2), Army Meritorious Service Medal (5), Army Commendation Medal (3), Army Achievement Medal (2), NATO Medal, multiple campaign and service medals, and the Distinguished Order of Saint Martin, Patron Saint of the Quartermaster Regiment.
