Command Sgt. Maj. Kyle E. Matus

Command Sgt. Maj. Kyle E. Matus is a native of Seymour, Texas. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in April 2003, where he attended Basic Combat Training, Advanced Individaul Training and Bravo 6 at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. His military occupation specialty was as a Combat Engineer. His early assignments include the 82nd Engineer BN at Bamberg, Germany and 5th Engineer BN at Fort Leonard Wood, MO.

Matus was then assigned to the Dallas Recruiting Battalion as a detailed recruiter. Following completion, he was assigned to 1st CAV, Fort Hood, TX and 43rd Sustainment, Fort Carson, CO.

Matus then returned to USAREC, where he was assigned as a Station Commander, Houston Recruiting Battalion and First Sergeant, Raleigh Recruiting Battalion. Matus’ last duty assignment was as the Operations Sergeant Major, Chicago Recruiting Battalion.

Matus is a graduate of the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy-Class 71. He has completed all levels of the Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development System, First Sergeant’s course, SAPPER Leader Course, Army Recruiter Course, Station Commander Course, Master Resiliency Training Course, and Guidance Counselor Operations Course. CSM Matus holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Southwestern College and a Master of Arts in Leadership Studies from the University of Texas at El Paso.

His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star With Valor, the Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal 3rd award, the Army Commendation Medal 7th award, Army Achievement Award 4th award, Army Good Conduct Medal 6th award, National Defense Service Medal, Army Superior Unit Award, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal second award, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Combat Action Badge, SAPPER tab, NATO Medal, Driver’s Badge for track and wheeled, Gold Recruiter Badge with three sapphires, Recruiter Ring, and the Glen E. Morrell Award.
