Meet your Recruiter – Sgt. 1st Class Eric Gianan

By Sgt. 1st Class Eric Johnson USARD PAO

Sgt. 1st Class Gianan, a native of Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands, serves as a recruiter at the Hagatna Recruiting Station in Guam. He was recently recognized by U.S. Army Recruiting Command leadership as one of the command’s standout performers.

“I serve in the United States Army for the welfare of my family and to ensure the freedom and safety of the American people,” Gianan said.

Gianan joined the Army as a shower and laundry specialist in November 2007. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserve to take advantage of its education benefits and enhance his education.

In addition to his recruiting duties, Gianan was awarded the Humanitarian Relief Medal for his efforts during the Typhoon Yutu mission in the Northern Mariana Islands. He was also named the 6th Recruiting Brigade Army Reserve Soldier of the Year for fiscal year 2024 and represented USAREC at the Army Reserve Soldier boards that same year.

“Working in USAREC has equipped me with unique communication and marketing skills,” Gianan said. “As I aspire to become an entrepreneur and real estate broker, the skills I have learned will only benefit me in the future.”

Outside of recruiting, Gianan is passionate about bodybuilding and fitness. While serving in the Army, he earned his Master Fitness Certification.

“I attribute my success to the full support of my wife and kids,” Gianan said. “Not only are they the love of my life, but they are also the bedrock of my future successes.”

Gianan dreams of becoming an entrepreneur in the health and fitness industry and a real estate broker.
