FORT KNOX, Ky. –
Staff Sgt. Bryan Rice, a native of Martinsville, Indiana, serves as a senior court reporter and was recently recognized by U.S. Army Recruiting Command leadership as one of the command’s standout performers.
“I serve in the U.S. Army to ensure a better future for my family and because I believe in the work I do,” Rice said.
Rice enlisted in the Army in August 2012 as a paralegal specialist, fulfilling a lifelong goal.
When USAREC required a senior court reporter, Rice stepped up to take on the challenge, seeing it as an opportunity for growth.
“USAREC has given me the opportunity to meet people from diverse backgrounds, each of whom has contributed to my personal and professional growth,” he said.
In his role, Rice has supported 37 courts-martial and eliminated a four-year backlog of completed cases needing to be entered into the official system of record. He also trains and mentors other court reporters across the installation, all while maintaining a 4.0 GPA in the University of Tennessee Knoxville’s MBA program. He was recently selected to become a drill sergeant.
“My achievements are a result of the support from my wife and kids, along with the mentorship and experience I’ve gained through USAREC, and the U.S. Army Cadet Command Office of the Staff Judge Advocate,” he said.
Rice was hand-selected by the 1st Theater Sustainment Command to support two courts-martial in the U.S. Central Command area of operations.
In his free time, he enjoys scuba diving and reading.
Rice’s goals include excelling as a drill sergeant and completing his Master of Business Administration degree.
