FORT KNOX, Ky. –
As graduation caps fly and students celebrate their academic milestones this season, now is the time to decide the next chapter. The Army offers bonuses for individuals who have college credit. Why not receive a monetary reward for all your hard work?
The U.S. Army’s College Credit Bonus is providing a financial boost for qualified new enlistees who have completed college credit between 12 semester hours and a bachelor’s degree before shipping to basic training and who choose to join in one of the eligible military occupational specialties. The bonuses range from $250- $8,000 depending on the number of credit hours earned and the length of the contract.
This bonus is also available for high school graduates who’ve already completed an associate degree through dual enrollment or early college programs.
In addition, recruits with college credit often enter the Army at a higher pay grade, typically E-2 or E-3, translating into a faster track to promotions and increased monthly income.
Beyond the immediate cash bonus, the Army also offers up to $4,000 a year in tuition assistance, the GI Bill, and other scholarship opportunities, making it a compelling pathway for students planning to continue their education after service.
As schools across the country hold commencement ceremonies this month, Army recruiters are actively working with school counselors and career advisors to ensure eligible students are aware of this little-known but valuable benefit.
Below is a chart showing the number of credit hours required and the length of contract.
